Ano, očekávané se bohužel stalo skutečností. Původní HTC Desire již aktualizaci na Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) nedostane, důvodem je prý nedostatek paměti, který by nedovolil fungování Gingerbreadu a zároveň HTC Sense. Naštěstí tady pořád máme komunitu a možnost nahrát na Desire například populární CyanogenMOD 7.
EDIT: Prostě a jednoduše má Desire moc malý ‚disk‘ a Gingebread se Sense se na něj nevejde.
Our engineering teams have been working hard for the past few months to find a way to bring Gingerbread to the HTC Desire without compromising the HTC Sense experience you’ve come to expect from our phones. However, we’re sorry to announce that we’ve been forced to accept there isn’t enough memory to allow us both to bring Gingerbread and keep the HTC Sense experience on the HTC Desire. Náš tým inženýrů v posledních pár měsících těžce pracoval, aby našel způsob jak přinést Gingerbread na HTC Desire, aniž by zkompromitoval zážitek z HTC Sense. Bohužel jsme nuceni oznámit, že díky nedostatku paměti, která nám nedovolí přinést zároveň Gingerbread a HTC Sense, aktualizace nepřijde. Upřímně se omlouváme za to, že jsme Vás zklamali.
